After some more hunting, I found a program called Quick CPU (looks like a very nice program at first glance) which is reporting my CPU at between 4.2 - 4.4GHz, pretty much permanently. However, I ran across a thread somewhere out there which stated that HWMonitor and other similar programs do not always correctly report Rocket Lake speeds. Thanks in advance for reading and for any help and/or suggestions.Ĭlick to expand. Thanks for the suggestion, but disabling Intel Adaptive Thermal Monitor" made no difference to the issue.

Except in this case I'm lost.ĭoes anyone out there have any idea why Turbo Boost doesn't work at all and I don't even get the stock speeds on this CPU with Virtualization Technology enabled? Or why turning it off seems to lock it in Turbo Boost mode no matter if the machine is idle or full load or anything in between? I may post this over at Intel too, but the fact that manipulating my BIOS impacts it this way leads me to think the CPU is fine and there's got to be a BIOS setting, or combination of settings, that will make this work as it's supposed to. It's just that stuff that doesn't work like it is supposed to (or at least like I think it's supposed to) bugs me and I can't stop messing with it until I figure out why. I have zero plans to use Virtualization on this machine, so turning it off isn't a problem. Except for turning off Virtualization Technology, I haven't touched any of the other OC settings in BIOS.
CPU Z MSI SOFTWARE
These speeds were verified with the same software as mentioned above. But it very rarely goes below the 4.2GHz no matter what, if anything, is running on the PC. If I go to BIOS and *disable* Intel Virtualization Technology, then all 6 cores will sit on 4.2GHz as the lowest frequency, and boost up to 4.4GHz. Running Prime95 and loading all 6 cores 100%, and the speed doesn't change. Also verified with CPU-Z and Core Temp, and MSI Center. Except this one sits on 1.38GHz to maybe 1.4GHz, per HW Monitor. I don't know what's going on with the CPU it's rated for 2.6 GHz standard with turbo boost to 4.4GHz. This is a new board and cpu combo for me, just set it up yesterday.
